Sally says she is following this handsome cowboy anywhere!!! 🚐🌎. We were looking forward to our 400 mile drive through the beautiful West and arrive in Custer , SD by nightfall. We love driving, even long drives, but we were especially excited to see old friends along this route! Sheridan, WY is all things Western & if you have a little cowboy/cowgirl in you, this town is bound to charm you! You will find life size & bigger than life bronze sculptures & plenty of cafes with good ole cowboy cookin & country western music!
Don’t miss the Historic Sheridan Inn built in 1893 and originally managed by Buffalo Bill , then declared a National Historic Sight in 1964. The Inn was closed on & off & finally the rooms became open to the public for the first time in 50 years in 2015. Our dear friend’s mother owned & managed it for a time also! Also, worthwhile is the short drive to Cody, Wyoming and Buffalo Bill State Park! The Park was very windy that day, threatening to blow Sally’s cowboy hat off!
We never want to leave, but happy to have even a short visit …we were off again. There are so many sites to see including ranches , rodeos & restaurants along Interstate 90! We stopped for gas and who could resist eating here? Perfect!….we love the local eateries & the local people even more! Check out the back of this menu, all true!!
We continued on to historic Deadwood, SD where you would expect to see Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid in the surrounding Black Hills! Both Deadwood & Custer will take you back to your favorite Western movie town! Mount Rushmore is spectacular night & day with The Evening Lighting Ceremony being awe inspiring. The buffalo do still roam in South Dakota, often on the highways! So much to see, so little time! And yes, Paul did remember to bring Sally!!😂
We have gone about 2000 miles with another 2000 to go….. Early morning rise to head East through Sioux Falls to Rochester, MN! Pretty drive, quaint towns, awesome RV Parks and more! Happy Trails & God Bless!🙏🚐
